9/25/21 ~ H572 DEAD IN COMMITTEE

H572 was killed in committee. With the exception of Larry Pittman, no legislator was willing to do the work it took to preserve your right to healthcare choice, neither republican nor democrat. Please continue to call, email, and send postcards to your legislators asking why the people of North Carolina must now face a vaccine passport that will be required by certain businesses and employers. Several healthcare rights groups such as PAVE fought diligently to get this bill out of committee and passed. We were confident it could be passed and that Cooper's expected veto could be overridden. But your legislators did not see fit to stand against Tim Moore and Bill Rabon.

5/11/21 ~ SUCCESS ON H572 -- BUT ACTION NEEDED!

H572 passed the House on a vote of 75-38. Rep. Pittman's amendment to give liability protection to businesses was not included.

5/8/21 ~ CRITICAL ALERT: MONDAY DEADLINE

On Monday H572 (the substitute for H558) will go to the House floor for a vote. Call your House rep (leave a VM) and also email them. H572 is a watered down version of H558 but Tim Moore would not allow H558 to move forward because he protects businesses over people (against what the constitution says). We are hoping to get more protective language added to H572 as it makes its way through the process.

5/6/21 ~ CRITICAL ALERT: WHICH BILLS ARE MOVING FORWARD

As a free people, we should be able to make our own healthcare choices. But the political process intervenes and interferes. The most we can do is fight for our rights, and remember what decisions our elected officials made. Read the status of the various Covid-related bills and take immediate action to share your thoughts with the leadership.

5/6/21 ~ STATUS AND CRITICAL CALL TO ACTION

The House Health Committee could not be swayed to hear HB 558. As a result, it is not moving forward.

This morning, the House Health Committee heard a proposed committee substitute for HB 572, and it was passed by the Committee.

HB 572 is "No Vaccine Mandate by EO, Rule, or Agency." Essentially, it is Section 1 of HB 558. The restrictions are very limited, and limited to government ONLY.

HB 572 is scheduled to be heard by House Rules Committee this afternoon: https://www.ncleg.gov/Sessions/2021/Bills/House/PDF/H572v2.pdf

The other bills (779, 686, and 876) do not have the forward motion to get through May 13 crossover.

Your job today through May 13 crossover is to contact via email, phone, social media, and in person the following Representatives:

to convince them to:

1. add the private sections prohibition on vaccine mandate and passports from HB 558 to HB 572 and

2. add a section to HB 572 that imposes liability for all harm, damages, injury, illness, or death when an employee, customer, patron, visitor, guest, or other member of the public is mandated to take a COVID-19 vaccination or series of vaccinations.

H558: Prohibit Mandatory CV19 Vaccinations

https://www.ncleg.gov/Sessions/2021/Bills/House/PDF/H558v0.pdf

Action Steps:
1: Call, post card/ letter write, or email. It is essential that advocacy begins in the House of Representatives as the bill will have to make it through the House Rules committee. Everyone should reach out to every member of the House Rules committee, and particularly House Speaker Tim Moore asking for support for this legislation. https://www.ncleg.gov/Committees/CommitteeInfo/HouseStanding/2

2: PAVE is asking for weekly advocacy and feedback with calls & emails regarding legislators that either agree or disagree with support for the legislation.  Send postcards weekly to those not supporting, with a message focusing on constitutional rights and freedom.

3: Call & send weekly postcards to Cooper to not allow businesses to mandate the CV-19 injection. He said he will not mandate, but he will most likely allow others to do it.

4: Email the PAVE team (People Advocating Vaccine Education) at 2020freedomnc@gmail.com to give your permission to sign your name and address, or just a zip code. PAVE will send a postcard to Cooper on your behalf. It says "no mandatory covid19 vaccines." You will also receive any critical updates (we will not spam you).

UPDATE 4-15-21: The bill banning mandatory vaccinations in North Carolina has officially passed its First Reading in the NC House and has been assigned to the House Health Committee. In order to advance, the bill will have to receive what's called a Favorable Committee Substitute (or a passing vote) from this committee. It's time to let the members of the House Health Committee know that we expect them to vote FOR this bill! Please write, call, and email the below members of this committee: Chairs: Kristin.Baker@ncleg.gov; Donny.Lambeth@ncleg.gov; Larry.Potts@ncleg.gov; Wayne.Sasser@ncleg.gov; Donna.White@ncleg.gov Vice-Chairs: Carla.Cunningham@ncleg.gov; Verla.Insko@ncleg.gov Members: Gale.Adcock@ncleg.gov; Cynthia.Ball@ncleg.gov; Hugh.Blackwell@ncleg.gov; William.Brisson@ncleg.gov; Cecil.Brockman@ncleg.gov; Becky.Carney@ncleg.gov; Jerry.Carter@ncleg.gov; Linda.Cooper-Suggs@ncleg.gov; Jimmy.Dixon@ncleg.gov; James.Gailliard@ncleg.gov; Bobby.Hanig@ncleg.gov; Julia.Howard@ncleg.gov; Chris.Humphrey@ncleg.gov; Howard.Hunter@ncleg.gov; Marvin.Lucas@ncleg.gov; Pat.McElraft@ncleg.gov; Tim.Moffitt@ncleg.gov; Garland.Pierce@ncleg.gov; Mitchell.Setzer@ncleg.gov; Phil.Shepard@ncleg.gov; Kandie.Smith@ncleg.gov; John.Szoka@ncleg.gov; Steve.Tyson@ncleg.gov; Sam.Watford@ncleg.gov; Michael.Wray@ncleg.gov   Call, write, and email today!
